We introduce a fast algorithm for 3D azimuthally anisotropic velocity scan, which is a generalization of the previously proposed 2D butterfly algorithm for hyperbolic Radon transform. To compute the semblance in a two-parameter residual moveout domain, the numerical complexity of our algorithm is roughly <!-- MATH $O(N^3\\log N)$ --><IMG WIDTH=\"106\" HEIGHT=\"39\" ALIGN=\"MIDDLE\" BORDER=\"0\" SRC=\"\/RSF\/book\/tccs\/scan3\/paper_html\/img17.png\" ALT=\"$ O(N^3\\log N)$\"> as opposed to <IMG WIDTH=\"58\" HEIGHT=\"39\" ALIGN=\"MIDDLE\" BORDER=\"0\" SRC=\"\/RSF\/book\/tccs\/scan3\/paper_html\/img18.png\" ALT=\"$ O(N^5)$\"> of the straightforward velocity scan, with <IMG WIDTH=\"21\" HEIGHT=\"16\" ALIGN=\"BOTTOM\" BORDER=\"0\" SRC=\"\/RSF\/book\/tccs\/scan3\/paper_html\/img19.png\" ALT=\"$ N$\"> being representative of the number of points in either dimension of data space or parameter space.
