{"id":411,"date":"2014-12-01T18:11:11","date_gmt":"2014-12-01T18:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ahay.org\/blog\/?p=411"},"modified":"2015-08-22T14:04:34","modified_gmt":"2015-08-22T14:04:34","slug":"program-of-the-month-sfbin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ahay.org\/blog\/2014\/12\/01\/program-of-the-month-sfbin\/","title":{"rendered":"Program of the month: sfbin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/RSF\/sfbin.html\">sfbin<\/a> bins traces with irregular spatial sampling to a regularly sampled 3-D cube. <\/p>\n<p>The following example from <a href=\"\/RSF\/book\/sep\/precon\/cube.html\">sep\/precon\/cube<\/a> shows the output of binning a common-offset seismic cube <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/RSF\/book\/sep\/precon\/cube\/Fig\/bin-win.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/> which corresponds to the following distribution of common midpoints <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/RSF\/book\/sep\/precon\/cube\/Fig\/cmp-win.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/> Optionally, <strong>sfbin<\/strong> can also output the fold map (using <strong>fold=<\/strong> parameter). The fold map shows the number of input traces in each output bin. <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/RSF\/book\/sep\/precon\/cube\/Fig\/fold-win.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/> Parameters that control output grid sampling are <strong>nx=<\/strong>, <strong>dx=<\/strong>, <strong>x0=<\/strong> (for the second axis), <strong>ny=<\/strong>, <strong>dy=<\/strong>, <strong>y0=<\/strong> (for the third axis). Alternatively, one can specify the range values <strong>xmin=<\/strong>, <strong>xmax=<\/strong>, <strong>ymin=<\/strong>, <strong>ymax=<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>By default, the range is determined from the input trace coordinates. The input trace coordinates can be specified in an auxiliary trace header file (<strong>head=<\/strong> parameter), where x and y coordinates are given in keys number <strong>xkey=<\/strong> and <strong>ykey=<\/strong> (0 and 1 by default). <\/p>\n<p>By default, nearest-neighbor binning is applied. Alternatively, it is possible to use median binning by specifying <strong>interp=0<\/strong> or bilinear-interpolation binning by specifying <strong>interp=2<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>By default, the output values are normalized by the fold.
