The award was presented by <a href=\"http:\/\/stallman.org\/\">Richard Stallman<\/a>, the president of the Free Software Foundation, at a ceremony in Cambridge, Massachusetts. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.fsf.org\/fsforg\/img\/IPythonsm.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>IPython <a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/07\/18\/running-madagascar-in-an-interactive-console\/\">plays well with Madagascar<\/a> through the use of the <a href=\"\/wiki\/Conferences#Austin_2012_.28SciPy.29\">Python interface<\/a>. A particularly convenient way of using IPython&#8217;s interactive capabilities is the <a href=\"http:\/\/ipython.org\/ipython-doc\/dev\/interactive\/htmlnotebook.html\">web-based notebook<\/a> interface. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/ipython3.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>We can expect new enhancements to IPython&#8217;s notebook interface from Fernando Perez and his collaborators thanks to a <a href=\"http:\/\/ipython.org\/sloan-grant.html\">generous grant from the Sloan foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On March 23, Fernando Perez, the creator of IPython, received the Award for the Advancement of Free Software.
