Equal-weight stacking

In order to enhance the SNR of the zero-offset trace, all traces in a prestack CMP gather are summed. The traditional equal-weight stacking is the average of all traces in a prestack CMP gather.

$\displaystyle \hat{s}(t)= \frac{1}{N}\sum_{i=1}^{N} s_i(t),$ (1)

where $t$ is time, $s_i(t)$ denotes the $i$th trace. $\hat{s}(t)$ is the stacked zero-offset trace, and $N$ is the number of traces.
